Champions Chess

This is a simple variant where the Queens are removed and replaced by three champions, the Gryphon, Rhino, and Mammoth; corresponding to the Rook, Bishop, and Knight.

Pieces

The Gryphon's move consists of a diagonal step followed by an outward orthogonal slide. It's movement pattern forms and outline of the Rook's.

The Rhino's move consists of an orthogonal step followed by an outward diagonal slide. It's pattern forms an outline of the Bishop's.

The Mammoth's leaps one or two squares orthogonally or diagonally. It can reach all squares within a distance of 2 that a Knight cannot.

Rules

All rules are as in ordinary chess, except that the King moves three squares when castling.
